The City of SeaTac incorporated on February 28, 1990. The City is approximately 10 square miles located halfway between the cities of Seattle and Tacoma with a population of about 25,000. Sea-Tac International Airport is located entirely within the city boundaries. The City of SeaTac operates under the Council-Manager form of government consisting of seven elected Councilmembers and a professional City Manager hired by the City Council.
Over the years, the City has improved roadways including International Boulevard, provided sidewalks and medians to improve safety, built the SeaTac Community Center and added a senior wing, developed the 165-acre North SeaTac Park and made signaficant improvements to city parks and school playgrounds, enhancements have been made in the areas of fire, police, and animal control services, purchased a city hall, built a maintenance facility, continues to provide funding to human service agencies serving its residents, provides recreational programs for all ages, and continues to work closely with its neighbors on regional issues, as well as the Port of Seattle and Sound Transit.

Highline Area Historical Tid-Bits Military Road This was originally part of the Fort Steilacoom-Fort Bellingham military road, and was built to facilitate travel between the forts. The rugged unpaved road was constructed between 1853 and 1860 and has remained a principal road for decades.
Native American Canoes - Angle Lake
Two Native American canoes, the oldest of which is estimated to be up to 300 years old, where discovered at the bottom of Angle Lake. William Westlake Walker discovered them in 1989-1990 while scuba diving in the lake. Duwamish and Mukleshoot tribal people had utilized the area since ancient times. The SeaTac area was traversed by Native American groups traveling between saltwater shorelines and the interior.
History Brochure
In 1998, the City organized a committee to develop a History Brochure for the City of SeaTac. The result of their hard work and data collection is a beautiful brochure highlighting SeaTac’s colorful history.
