The City of SeaTac has a population of over 25,000 residents. Thousands of other people move through the city by way of SeaTac International Airport and the 5,300 hotel/motel guest rooms that are located nearby. This creates very special demands for police services within the community.
The City of SeaTac has contracted with the King County Sheriff's Office since incorporation in 1990. The Police Chief oversees the activities of a police force that includes patrol officers, street crimes and criminal investigations detectives, and operations and administrative support staff. The City can also call on the support of the Sheriff's Office special services such as the bomb squad, SWAT team and Guardian One helicopter. SeaTac Officers are easily identifiable in the community as they wear SeaTac uniforms and drive SeaTac patrol cars.
